To correctly mount the ER collet in the holder:

Insert the collet at an angle to the nut
Hook the collet's channel onto the eccentric or cylindrical protrusion of the nut (Fig. A)
Press the collet into the nut (Fig. B)
The nut with the sleeve pressed in, screw it to the holder so that the tool being processed can be clamped.
