The most common adapters are those to fit Morse taper tools. There are no adapters available to change from Morse taper to taper type 7:24 (ISO, DIN or BT). Thanks to the reduction sleeves, the same tool can be used on different machining machines, simply by using the appropriate adapter. When fitting a cutting tool with a Morse taper into the reducer sleeve, the tool must be pushed firmly into the taper bore of the adapter.
Morse type reducers can be divided into three types according to the size of the outer and inner taper:
- reducing bushings - when the size of the inner taper is smaller than the outer taper,
- increasing bushings - when the size of the inner taper is larger than the outer taper,
- extension sleeves - when the size of the inner cone is the same as the size of the outer cone.
